Frances Mitchell (the singer/songwriter behind EFFIE) began her career back in 2013 as a finalist in the RTE programme ‘The Hit’, co-writing ‘Who Do You Love’ which was later released by Ryan O’Shaugnessy, reaching number 3 in the Irish charts. After this, Frances fronted the band LORIS which began as an electro pop trio and received quotes from The Guardian and The Irish Times along with being featured on BBC Radio 1 by Fearne Cotton and Greg James with the single ‘Yeah’, supporting bands such as Sylvan Esso and Misterwives and playing The Great Escape Festival in Brighton. Since then, Frances has focused on writing and collaborating, working predominently with Notting Hill Publishers and in 2023 joining NKP. EFFIE began releasing singles in November 2023, starting with ‘Runaway’ and is also currently writing and releasing music as part of Belfast pop duo, PONYCLUB.
